Why is snow white for kids

I am sure like my two kids, all of seven and three years, you too may find the cold in Delhi a bit too extreme. It is cold and clammy and some days it is foggy making it dangerous to drive. Some days I would like them to be adequately muffled up in warm winter clothing, while they feel quite comfortable running around in a sweater and shorts! But most days it was grumble, grumble, grumble! Last year I found my children complaining about the winter cold a bit too often. So I decided to take them out on a well-deserved winter holiday.

The idea thrilled them but their faces fell when I told them that I intended to take them to hill station. A hill station in winters -I am sure they felt that I had gone senile quite early in life. However, I wanted them to see snow so that they would learn to appreciate the beauty of the cold crisp winter and the fresh air of the mountains.

So we packed our bags and set off to Shimla, a hill station in the state of Himachal Pradesh. After a thoroughly enjoyable drive we reached Shimla. It was very cold and to add to all this it started raining. The next day too there was no sign of sun. Just when we were planning our next move it started raining again. Suddenly we could see tiny powdery white flakes falling from the sky. The romantic scenes were very sweet. Positive role models. Helped me decide. Had useful details 1. Read my mind.

Evil vs. What a mistake!!! The movie turned dark very quickly, and the "Dark Arts", witchcraft, casting spells, evil and violence were just too much.

This movie does not have a "good vs. The plot of this movie was "evil vs. Although we used freeze picture, mute and fast forward several times, we still ended up with very objectionable content in our daughter's viewing. As a Christian, I don't believe that the witchcraft and evil in this movie is redeeming for any age. I do think that open discussion about the evil elements could be had with kids age 8 to But I don't think that's the target audience of this movie.

I suspect, based on the "Disney Princess" marketing, that the target audience is more like year-old girls. Had useful details. Adult Written by Rayan5 October 26, Adult Written by meydiana. If the movie failed back in , there would be no Disney Company today, no Lion King, and no Disneyland. Disney's Folly, as critics first called it, would probably have scared any other industry from attempting such an ambitious and innovative project.

Pixar may not have ever had the chance to put out their groundbreaking features, and even the Disney- and fairy tale-bashing Shrek may never have been made if Snow White didn't set the course for the world of the animated feature.

There must have been tremendous pressure on everyone involved in the making of Snow White, but they did not disappoint. The end result includes a timeless story, classic songs, and beautiful imagery that will live on for future generations to enjoy.

In fact, this was only the second movie that captured my nieces' full attention spans The Lion King being the first. In my opinion, the story was great but not perfect.

It's not as exciting or filled with as much witty remarks as today's animated features, but as soon as the dwarfs are introduced, the movie takes on an endearing lighter side. For the record, my favorite dwarf is Doc, because I can relate to him being a strong leader with some very humanistic follies, such as always getting tongue-tied I do that myself all too often.

All the songs stand out in their own way. As for the imagery, it's just breathtaking, especially considering how early it was introduced. The colors are rich and lively, and the multi-plane camera does add some great depth to the movie. As you can tell, for an animation and Disney fan like myself, Snow White is a perfect milestone in the movie world.

Even compared to the animation and storytelling styles of today, Snow White still stands the test of time. Kudos to everyone involved in this picture as their work will live on forever. My Yahoo! Adult Written by expresstan October 19, Adult Written by Carley L April 11, Much scarier than I remember I watched this by myself first before judging if it would be ok for my daughters to see it together. I thought it would pass easily, since it's a classic disney princess movie. However some scenes were pretty shocking.

The violence is very blatant.. And finally a scene that I just didn't like: the way the dwarves forced Grumpy to wash. I hated this scene, I know it's meant to be funny to kids, but I don't think it's funny for a group of people to hold someone down against their will and humiliate them. With that said - I watched Snow White myself when I was about 5, and I'm pretty sure that all of these negative things flew by me. I don't remember ever being affected by any of it, and just thought it was entertaining.

That's why I'll only take off one star, since maybe adults tend to over-analyze things that a child wouldn't think twice about. Overall the movie is beautiful and a great story. Before I watched it I thought it would be suitable for a very young toddler, but now I'm thinking it's more appropriate for one that is about 6 and already knows what death is.

Violence- Some scary scenes, Snow white almost dies. The world's first animated Disney flick. Should be rated PG for some frightening moments and brief suggestive content. After Snow White cleaned up the living room, she went upstairs. On the second floor, there were seven little beds lined up in a row, as if for children. Tired from cleaning, Snow White yawned and lay across all seven of the beds.

Soon she fell fast asleep. In the meantime, the Seven Dwarfs were heading home from a long day of working in the jewel mines. When they opened the door, you can imagine their surprise when they saw their cottage all cleaned up! His name was Dopey. There — lying across all their beds, was a young lady, fast asleep. Snow White bolted awake.

The Seven Dwarfs could tell she was as surprised as they were. Soon they all relaxed and shared their stories. She told them all about her step-mother.

That her stepmother had tried to get the huntsman to kill her, that the huntsman had set her free in the woods, and that she could never go back home again. I will let everyone know what part they can do, and I will do my share too, of course.

The Seven Dwarfs shrugged. To celebrate their new friendship, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs sang and danced the night away. The next morning before they left for work, the Seven Dwarfs warned Snow White she must not open the door to anyone. After all, who knows what evil her stepmother might do?

The princess nodded in agreement, and the Dwarfs left the house. The princess prepared her first reading lesson. She also prepared a good hot meal for the Seven Dwarfs when they returned home that night. And so the days passed. Back at the castle, the Queen marched up to her mirror. And an image was shown on the mirror of Snow White living in the cottage of the Seven Dwarfs. The Queen turned red with rage. At the cottage of the Dwarfs the next afternoon, when the Seven Dwarfs were away at work, there was a knock on the door.

She remembered the warning of the Seven Dwarfs not to open the door to anyone. She took the comb out of her hair and gave it to the old woman, who then gave her the apple. Snow White took a big bite. Alas, the fruit was poisoned! At once, Snow White fell to the ground in a deep sleep. Just then the door flew open. In marched the Seven Dwarfs, home from the day's work. Shocked indeed they were to find Snow White lying on the floor and what must be her stepmother beside her, laughing!

They chased that evil Queen out the door, and into the storm.
