Giant defy which size

I know there are a fair few defy owners on here so thought I would ask. But I do like being armed with some idea what to expect so at 5,11 what size do you reckon i should be looking at?

Possibly with a slightly longer stem. Hmmm thats similar to what the shop said. Seems at least the new defy bikes are pretty blinking long! Definately shop fit time. Very true. And even when they use numbers they rarely seem to mean the same thing. Pretty sure top tube length is akin to the fish that got away sometimes. I have a 64cm Cube Peloton which apparently would be a 62 in most other brands.

My issue is that I had an inline post on the cube but the giant D fuse post is a layback — even with the saddle right forward the reach with a mm stem is slightly long but any shorter and my knees occasionally brush the bars when climbing out of the saddle.

Test ride obviously, but Rutland Cycling used to have a great sizing guide for height and inside leg when I got mine that was spot on. Medium and a stem. A smaller frame and longer stem will handle better than vice versa. Ask the shop to swap stems. Giant OD2 stems are available in 5mm increments. A test ride of a medium with the standard mm stem will feel far too small. Add 15 mm and it feels like a totally different bike.

This would have made life easy. However, I did opt for a shorter stem by 10mm. My bike has hydraulics, so what esher shore says figures.

Mines a with non discs if that makes any difference. My defy is my first road bike. It just feels a tiny bit short. Same height but ride a small. Medium felt just too stretched out.

Your long torso helped you size up I guess. I tried the large and it felt way too big. I have long legs and a short body BB to Saddle top is mm for me.

My previous bike was a Trek 56cm. Advanced Composite frame is specifically engineered for endurance road riding, delivering a smoother ride quality and less fatigue on long rides. The D-Fuse seatpost and handlebar system works seamlessly with the frame to absorb road shocks and vibrations. Seamless disc brake integration including flat mounts and 12mm front and rear thru-axles produces more consistent braking power for better control, even in wet weather and rough roads.

Endurance road geometry, added tire clearance up to 35mm and disc-brake integration allow you to tackle a variety of roads and conditions, from smooth pavement to rugged backroads and mountain passes.

The front triangle of these framesets is assembled and molded as one continuous piece in a proprietary manufacturing process called Modified Monocoque Construction. Proprietary D-shaped composite seatpost and handlebar work together to dampen vibrations and absorb road shock, resulting in a smoother, more compliant ride quality.

Asymmetric chainstays provide additional stiffness on the driveside and stability on the non-driveside. Lightweight, all-internal seatpost locking mechanism provides clean, confident clamping power where it is needed most. The frame and fork are engineered specifically for flat-mount disc-brakes, including front and rear 12mm thru-axles for reliable braking performance in all weather and road conditions.

Introduced by Giant with the professional Team ONCE in the s, Compact Road revolutionized the look and feel of high-performance road bikes forever.

A downward sloping toptube from the headtube to the seattube creates smaller front and rear triangles for a lighter, stiffer bike. It also makes it easier for riders of all sizes to have a perfect fit. The D-Fuse seatpost and handlebar were designed to function as a system, absorbing road shocks and vibrations so you can ride farther, faster.
